I am a fiber artist. I have been crocheting since I was a young girl. Mostly made baby blankets or booties for friends, scarves, mostly small projects that were quite simplistic. In the last 8 years I have taught myself more complicated stitches and patterns, and make all kinds of hats, garments, and stuffed toys (amigurumis). I was introduced to needle felting in 2007 and fell in love with it. It is the most therapeutic craft I have ever come across, and I have participated in many different crafts over the years. I started with a felted snowman, and just blossomed into trying different animals, flowers, characters, and even hats. There really isn’t a pattern to follow, just general directions, and nothing can be made exactly the same way again. Every piece is truly unique. With the zen-like mind frame it takes me to, I am able to relax, just be in the moment, and yet create a pretty piece and have some fun with it. I also learned to knit in 2012 while volunteering with a high school class for two weeks, which was all about learning to slow down in this crazy-busy world. It is good to know how, but I don’t enjoy it quite as much as crochet and needle felt.
